How It Started
Our History
We were founded in 1864 to serve girls and young women who were experiencing upheaval in the aftermath of the Civil War.

Land Acknowledgment
The work of Girls Incorporated of Upper Canada takes place on the traditional unceded territories of the Indigenous nations who have lived on these lands from the beginning. In particular, we acknowledge the traditional territory of the Anishinabek, Huron-Wendat, Oneida and Haudenosaunee peoples. Let us listen to and learn from the Indigenous caretakers of this land about the sacred relationships and responsibilities that we have to each other and to these lands that give us what we need to live a healthy life.
