PROGRAM COORDINATOR POSITION

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Girls Inc. of Upper Canada delivers life-changing programs that inspire girls to be strong, smart, and
bold and engage in advocacy that empowers girls to reach their full potential and to understand, value,
and assert their rights. Research-based curricula, delivered by trained professionals, equip girls to
achieve academically; lead healthy and physically active lives; manage money; navigate media
messages; and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Girls
Inc. is committed to a vision of empowered girls in an equitable society. Girls Inc. of Upper Canada is
an independent affiliate of the bi-national Girls Inc. organization, the preeminent girls leadership
organization providing direct services and advocacy with and for girls.

ACTIVITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for collaborating with
team members to plan, develop, promote and deliver content-rich programs for 300+ girls 6-18 both
during school hours and out-of-school hours, as well as supporting overall organizational operations on
the administrative side. The Coordinator will maintain and expand relationships with area schools and
community partners to implement school day, out-of-school-time, and virtual programs in alignment
with our mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The bulk of the work for the
Program Coordinator involves front-line outreach work with girls, program development and delivery,
event planning and facilitation, and administrative duties as required.
Responsibilities within the Program Team, may include registration, data tracking, program evaluation,
training, and organizational support. The successful candidate should be interested in gender equity,
social justice, anti-oppressive and anti-racist work, and be passionate about modeling these values to
girls and young women. We are looking for a professional with experience in programming,
exceptional communication skills, a friendly can-do attitude, a commitment to ongoing learning and
personal and professional evolution with the organization, and a passion for our mission.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & REQUIREMENTS
➢ Passion for the Girls Inc. mission
➢ An awareness of, and commitment to, social justice education
➢ A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization including
support for, and advocacy and action toward, gender equity, reproductive justice, trans rights,
and anti-racism
➢ Three to five (3-5) years of facilitation experience in a formal or informal educational or youth
development setting
➢ Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, and work within a demanding and fast-paced
environment
➢ Degree or diploma in Social Work or Child and Youth Development preferred; relevant work
and life experience is also valued in place of or in addition to higher education
➢ Experience with out-of-school time programs a plus
➢ High level of comfort and skill with computer applications, technology, email, Zoom, Microsoft
Suite and Google Suite
➢ Self-motivated, able to work independently, excellent organizational, written and verbal
communication skills, and exceptional interpersonal and rapport-building skills
➢ Valid driver’s license, with good driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle and
willingness to transport program materials from site to site
➢ Sense of humour, flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to meet the changing needs of children
and youth
➢ Current First Aid and CPR certification
➢ Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check

35 hours per week, based at our Brockville office, with travel throughout Leeds Grenville as required.
Flexible hours including weekly evenings/ weekends are required in order to meet program delivery
demands.
$36,400-$40,040 annually plus benefit plan.
